Energetic paintings, giant formats, and a cabinet of monsters, deformed creatures, and apocalyptic beings — the 2020 season began with a comprehensive exhibition of works by Hamburg painter Marcus Korell. Korell, who studied with German painter and sculptor Pitt Moog in Dortmund in the 1990s, presented fictional portraits that could certainly be read as a reflection of the current social mood. And that mood is not always cheerful. With this exhibition, Oberfett also celebrated its eight-month guest appearance in the more than 300 square meter premises of Oberfette/Elbe at the harbor. A size that gave us some advantages in view of the coronavirus epidemic that broke out just a few months later.
